Google Sheets integration

Send form submissions to Google Sheets

Connect Google Sheets and FormSubmit creates a spreadsheet for your form and appends a row for every new submission. New fields automatically become new columns. We only request Google’s drive.file scope, which means FormSubmit can access the spreadsheets it creates — and nothing else in your Drive.

How to connect Google Sheets

  1. 1

Open your form → Integrations → Google Sheets and click Connect Google Sheets.

  2. 2

Google asks you to allow FormSubmit to “see, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app”. Approve it.

  3. 3

FormSubmit creates a spreadsheet named after your form with a header row.

  4. 4

Optionally click “Send existing submissions” to backfill rows.

  5. 5

New submissions appear as rows within seconds.

What FormSubmit sends

  • Submitted at (ISO timestamp) and Submission ID columns
  • One column per field, added automatically when new fields appear
  • A Files column with signed links when files are uploaded

Included on every plan, including Free. Failed deliveries are retried automatically with backoff and every attempt is shown in your delivery log.

Frequently asked questions

Why does FormSubmit only ask for drive.file?

drive.file is Google’s most limited Drive permission: an app can only see files it created or that you explicitly open with it. We never see your other documents or spreadsheets.

Can I use my own existing spreadsheet?

Not with drive.file, by design. We create a new spreadsheet you own; you can rename it, share it, add charts or reference it from other sheets.

What if I disconnect Google?

Deliveries stop and appear as failed in your delivery log. The spreadsheet stays in your Drive.
