Notifications

Email notifications

Notification emails, extra recipients, subject and body templates, digests and autoresponders.

By default every submission that passes spam filtering is emailed to the form owner (your Google account email) within seconds.

Recipients

Add more recipients under Notifications → Recipients. Each new address receives a confirmation link and only starts getting submissions after clicking it — this stops anyone from using a form to send mail to an address that didn't opt in. Remove recipients at any time.

Subject and body templates

Customise the subject and add an optional intro paragraph. Reference any submitted field with double curly braces, for example {{name}} or {{company}}:

Unknown variables render as empty text. A _subject field in the submission overrides the subject for that submission.

The email always includes a table of every field, links to attachments (optional), the submission time and a button to open it in your dashboard.

Reply-To

Reply-To is set to the submitter's address — taken from _replyto if present, otherwise the first field that looks like an email. Hitting reply in your email client answers the visitor directly.

Digests

Busy form? Switch Delivery to a daily or weekly digest. Instead of one email per submission you'll get a summary (latest 25 submissions plus a total) at 08:00 UTC — weekly digests go out on Mondays.

Autoresponder

Send the submitter a confirmation email automatically:

  1. Enable Autoresponder.
  2. Choose the field that contains their email (default email).
  3. Write a subject and message using variables, e.g. Hi {{name}}, thanks for getting in touch!
  4. Optionally set a sender name. Emails are sent as "Your name via FormSubmit" and replies go to you.

Autoresponders are only sent for submissions that pass spam filtering.

Branding

Free and Starter notification emails include a small "Sent by FormSubmit" footer. Pro and Business remove it.

Over your monthly limit

Submissions received after you exceed your plan's monthly limit are stored but locked — no notification or autoresponder is sent for them. We email you when you reach 80% and 100% of your limit.
